Doug Hyde Sell out!!

Doug Hyde's latest collection Reasons to be Cheerful sells out in record time! Please contact the gallery to see which pieces we still have available.

LOVE, COMPANIONSHIP, FRIENDS, LAUGHTER, HOPE, TOGETHERNESS

The new collection from the incomparable Doug Hyde brings together the naive charm of his distinctive, uplifting style with an unprecedented compositional sophistication. While Doug's artistic journey has taken him from the mono tonal figurative work to blazing technicolour narratives, these images deploy a new language both in terms of colour, and in a range of elegant formal devices which convey his artistic and personal messages.

FUZZ, MONTY, JESS AND BIG BEAR

This cool and stylish quarter of images represents Doug's familiar playful portrayals of his friends, but here the use of colour and sharply defined presentation of each character suggests a new refinement in his work.

YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROWOnce again Doug has shown himself as the universal optimist with this message of hope for the future. Although the clarity of his artistic voice is due in part to his use of narrative strand, it is the perfect simplicity of the images and the subtle tonal highlighting that makes this triptych so direct in it's appeal.

SECRET GARDEN

With Secret Garden Doug makes a brief foray across the spectrum with a breathtaking burst of light and colour. This definitive image celebrates all the uplifting ideals behind this stunning collection: love, companionship, friendship, laughter, hope and togetherness are all here, summed up once again in Doug's inimitable style.

INSEPARABLE
'Inseparable' is classic Doug Hyde in that it communicates so directly with the viewer, telling us everything we need to know about the loving relationship of the protagonists. The bear is as always depicted as protective and loyal, yet it is he who is subtly presented as leaning on his small companion, cleverly expressing the mutuality of their love for one another.

Peter Wileman Exhibiton

Peter Wileman, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, is now exhibiting at Creative Art Gallery.

Peter's powerful oil paintings are characterised by expressive, painterly techniques and demonstrate an atmospheric impact that few contemporary artists can hope to rival. His artistic achievements have been recognised with various accolades, including the Frank Herring award at the Mall Galleries in London and the Cornellisen Prize for Outstanding Work. As one of the most illustrious landscape painters on the contemporary scene he exhibits regularly at a number of prestigious art venues including the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the New England Art Club and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters of which he is now Vive President. We are extremely excited to have a collection of Peter's work in the gallery.

These magnificent new collectable Canvas Editions from Peter Wileman present water as a living mirror. Seas, rivers and lagoons reflect blazing sunsets and glorious cloudscapes in a dazzling array of purples and golds. We also have a range of brand new previously unseen original paintings - both of his more traditional landscape pieces and his abstract works.

Listening to Peter talk about his paintings when he recently visited the gallery was an inspiring experience. Despite a love of speed and excitement, he is a serious and reflective artist. He works on each individual composition over a lengthly period, but his passion and his insistence on perfection never wavers.

Peter comments that in the early stages of a painting he tries to "get the colours talking to each other," and anyone who has ever seen one of his dazzling landscapes or abstracts knows that the dialogue he creates this way is masterly.

Artist's win awards

Artists Sherree Valentine Daines and Henderson Cisz have recently been awarded two prestigious awards.

Summer 2007 saw the launch of one of the most collectable items of the year. 'First Impressions', a beautiful hardback book by Sherree Valentine Daines created quite a stir across the Uk, and the launch party in Notting Hill Gate was packed with collectors, critics and celebrity guests. This Autumn Sherree has also released some exceptional Canvas Editions which have been described as her finest work of her career.

Sheree was recently presented with an award 'The UK's Leading Contemporary Impressionist 2007'. She received the award in London from Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, however, Sheree took the opportunity to present Laurence with a portrait of himself! Sherree will be painting a matching portrait of Laurence's wife Jackie for the cameras in a TV programme called 'To the Manor Bowen' following the Llewelyn Bowen’s progress from city slickers to the rural idyll.

Yet again the Fine Art Trade Guild has recognized London-based Brazilian artist Henderson Cisz in honour of his magnificent cityscapes. Whilst last year Henderson was acknowledged as Best New Artist, he has now been named as Artist of the Year and recently won the 2007 John Solomon Trophy- a good year all round for Mr Cisz! - an award for the artist who has made the most impact in the marketplace over the year. Doug Hyde and Jack Vettriano were also in the top 10. These awards came to no surprise within the industry as he has made an outstanding contribution to the contemporary art scene in this country over the year
