This Weeks Window - David Cobley

A new exhibition by renowned figure painter David Cobley is now on exhibition in the Gallery. We are showcasing six new striking yet sensitive female nudes.

David Cobley studied at Northampton and LiverpoolSchoolsof Art. He belongs to the Royal Society of Portrait Paintersand the New English Art Club, as well as being a member of the Royal West of England Academy (RWA). His work is based soundly in his skills as a draughtsman, and he divides his time between commissioned portraits and oils of the figure. His sitters include The Princess Royal and Steven Berkoff. His Portrait of Ken Dodd was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery.

“These days my work is almost entirely about the figure, and how it is affected by the light that falls on and around it. Like many others before me, I am looking for ways of creating drama, mystery and magic in my work.”
